Self Care: Who Has The Time?

Being a working mother in the corporate world is like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. It's a bit of a circus act, to be honest. And amidst all the chaos, self-care often feels like the elephant in the room—big, looming, and difficult to tackle.

Let's be real here. Finding time for self-care when you're balancing deadlines, meetings, and the never-ending demands of motherhood can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Sure, Instagram might tell you to start your day with a sunrise yoga session followed by a green smoothie, but who has time for that when you're already two coffees deep and trying to get the kids out the door?

So, what's a frazzled working mama to do? Firstly, cut yourself some slack. Self-care doesn't have to look like a scene from a wellness influencer's feed. It can be as simple as stealing a few moments to enjoy a cuppa in peace or indulging in a guilty pleasure TV show once the little ones are asleep. Embrace the small victories, because let's face it, sometimes just managing to shower feels like a major accomplishment.

Next up, get creative with your time management. Maybe that means waking up earlier (which I am a big advocate of) to squeeze in a quick workout or outsourcing some household tasks to free up more moments for yourself. And don't forget to enlist the support of your village—whether it's your partner, family, or trusted friends. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sanity-saving survival tactic.

Above all, remember that self-care isn't selfish. It's essential for your well-being and your ability to show up as the kick-ass mum and professional you are. So, take a deep breath, let go of the guilt, and make time for yourself, even if it's just a stolen moment here and there.
