“Secret” Oats: The 5 Minute Breakfast Your Toddler Won’t Say No To

I often marvel at how opinionated a toddler can be; especially for someone with so little life experience. Whether it’s their need for the red (not the yellow) straw in their juice cup, or the fact that their left shoe has to go on before the right, they are passionate and unwavering in their stance on a plethora of topics.

Food is no exception. I don’t know about you, but my little man changes his mind about what he does and doesn’t like to eat on a weekly, if not daily basis. One day he’ll devour a whole bowl of Weetbix and ask for more, the next he’ll stare at it like it’s rat poison and point blank refuse to let it touch his spoon. This is part and parcel of #mumlife, sure, but one thing I’ve really struggled with is the mornings when I have to get to work… because I don’t have time for the freakin’ struggle!

Desperate to get two people ready, while ensuring the pint-sized one is nourished before leaving the house is no mean feat, but recently I’ve found a way to make it easier. The breakfast part, anyway. If your bub won’t eat porridge, or cereal, or eggs, or toast or… well, you get the point, then try secret oats!

Throw some oats in with some fruit and milk and let the blender make your morning 100% easier. It looks like a milkshake, kind of tastes like one too and you can add in heaps of good stuff as you please and they probably won’t even notice. One cute cup and curly straw later and you can carry on doing your hair, or whatever you don’t normally get time to do!

You’re welcome 🙂

  2. A handful of berries of your choice

  3. 1/4 cup of oats
